Wardown Parkrun was the venue for todays task, with a team of 6 Goodgymers attending this months GG Parkrun takeover. Covering various volunteer tasks from set up to Parkwalker and of course Marshaling (who did their own takeover at the top of the hill). An optional extra for the Parkwalker was a pretty pink paddle that was held proudly in the air all the way round the course. Well done everyone, great effort today 👏 👍🏻 💪

7 Luton Goodgymers turned out to support the Shri Guru Ravidass Sangat Gudwara with their 2nd of 6 cooking classes. A project bringing communities together by sharing skills, making friendships and creating memories ( and some delicious food). Well done to everyone who attended 👏 👍🏻 🙌

This week our Group Run took us up the hill to the sunny Ferndale Leisure Gardens, an allotment space that had been underused for some time and needs the old plots clearing out of all the old junk collected by past tenants to make inviting open spaces ready for new tenants.
In this visit we tackled a tough patch that we couldn't deal with last time. There was a pile of something buried under thick brambles. This time we brought some clippers to cut away the bramble and gain access. It was a pile of corrugated metal roof panels, old windows and wooden pallets among other random buckets and broken spades and old hose pipe.
With seven of us on the case we managed to extract all the junk and carry it up the hill to the entrance gate and sorted it into piles of wood, plastic and metal which will be collected for recycling.
We'll be back here again in a few weeks because theres plenty more plots that need clearing out!

It was a glorious sunny morning, and just the kind of weather to get a good group of us out in People's Park for the monthly litter pick. It was great to see Yasin and Derrick, who we haven't seen for a while. MArtin managed to get in a few extra steps on the walking machine in the play park.
Between us we managed to find all the ingredients from a recent romantic evening at the park, a few spent prophylactics, a half a bottle of whisky, assorted beer cans and wine bottles and even a pair of M&S finest lacy briefs with a delightful lipstick pattern on them!
At the end of the session Rachel treated us to an Easter Egg Hunt, although we were slightly disappointed that she hadn't got dressed up as the Easter Bunny!

Wow! What an epic afternoon. We had a team of 7 GoodGymers who turned up to spend the afternoon at Farley Community Centre to help make sure that the Christmas Dinner for senior residents went off with lots of festive cheer. It was great fun and lovely to see the older folk really enjoying themselves.
Yasin, Gill and Derrick were first to arrive, and soon got busy getting the hall ready: setting up tables, getting out the chairs, sweeping etc. Dee and Mayra joined the team and helped to finish off laying up the place settings and getting ready to serve the food. Once service started it was all hands on deck to make sure that all 50 guests were served a cracking three course dinner as swiftly as possible, so we were pleased that Freddy arrived to help out too.
There was time for the GoodGymers to enjoy a lunch themselves and Omar and Gill even got involved in the dancing (well who can resist a bit of Reggae?) before starting the mammoth task of clearing up the dishes while the party goers enjoyed their bingo and raffle. Omar excelled himself as the most efficient pot washer in the GoodGym team.
By 5 o'clock we had cleared the hall, wiped the tables and swept the floor, leaving it all immaculate. Vera was so pleased with our efforts that we were all given a box of biscuits as a thank you, and as the night drew in we all set off on foot for home.
