Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by James Gilbert
Nine GoodGym runners converged on the Crouch End Open Space today to help CREOS on their monthly working party.
It may have threatened rain early on but as is so often the case when we visit CREOS, the weather ended up on our side.
We spent the best part of two hours variously: transporting woodchip via wheelbarrow load onto pathways; chopping back weeds from pathways; hunting out and extinguishing the source of invasive brambles; clearing obstacles from pathways; and installing logs as new pathway guides.
There's always lots to get on with at a CREOS community mission and we always feel like we've made a decent contribution, so if you're looking for a satisfying group task do join us in future! (Sign up to July's CREOS community mission here.)
We were working alongside volunteers from the CREOS crew as well as TCV. We all took five minutes at 12pm for a halftime cuppa and some biscuits, then got together again after 1pm when we were done for an always excellent picnic.
If you haven't visited the Crouch End Open Space - or haven't been recently - we can't recommend it enough. It's an absolutely lovely space, with a great mix of shaded wooded path and open meadow. If you have a dog they'll love it, as there are always a million running around when we visit and they all look very happy.
It's a particularly nice place to visit in summer, and in fact they are holding their annual summer party next week on Sunday 23rd June from 1pm to 5pm - featuring children's games, a raffle, a dog competition and live music. Bring along a picnic and enjoy!
