Well the second group turning up to do the Community Mission at Mousehold knew how to time it as we managed to miss the earlier rain showers affecting the first group and the rain held off until we had left for home! It was lovely to turn up at Mousehold and see the first group working hard! We exchanged socially distanced greetings before waving them off and getting on with our shift.
We welcomed Ian to his first GoodGym Norwich task, following his recent move from London. It was nice to hear how pleased he was to find out that GG is so active in the area here.
Will gave us a briefing about the task including a background as to why pulling up the bracken was so important to the biodiversity of the Heath. It was really interesting to see the impact of our efforts last year which had helped weaken the bracken's growth and increase the area of important grassland.
We all found pulling the bracken out very satisfying and enjoyed chatting with each other while doing so. As ever the time shot by and Bill had to be dragged away from the task so we could all be getting away before dark and the return of the rain. We look forward to returning.
