Today, 4 runner met the team from Fareshare to help with moving their food delivery into the storage space at St. Luke's church. The donate food will be distributed to those in need via the monthly food bank event at St. Luke's lunch club. Already knowing the drill from their last session there, Nathalie and Sarah got right at carrying crates of soups and boxes of spaghetti into the basement. Jayde made use of an discarded shopping trolley which maximized their work efficiency and put the unloading of the van to an quick end.
The bigger challenge was to squeeze the uncountable number of minced beef cans and jars for tomato sauce into a tiny storage room. Bike lights provided the only light source in the room giving this task an authentic (cryptic!) feel. Amy from St Luke's lunch club was super thankful for our help and we can't wait to be back there soon.
Great job guys!
We usually provide a school holiday lunch club and activities during the school holidays for disadvantaged families, since Covid we've been offering food hampers. St Luke's Church Most of the time the families come and collect the food, which most prefer as they get to choose their food. We've been offering more and more food, for which some families have struggled to carry over to their cars or to walk back to their home (less than 10-15min walk). We don't have a large team of volunteers so can't help everyone with the carrying.

Brilliant report Sarah. I am also loving the "Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell" support you enlisted.
