Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by JULIA GLEESON
Springing forward into long evenings
On the day after the clocks sprung forward, we headed back to one of our favourite tasks at St Botophs Church for our first visit of the year.
We were warmly met by Val and Rik - our hosts for this evening together with Sue, who as well as running the friends of Heene is a staunch supporter of St Botolphs Church.
This evening we were doing a general post winter tidy up of the garden. This year is a special one as its the 150th anniversary of the church in September. Val outlined plans to get the garden looking its best with special emphasis on making a feature of the doomsday font we uncovered there a few years ago,
Tonight the team buddied up and seemed to genuinely enjoy time with each other ( they always do ) but tonight there was a real sense of optimism with some wonderful summer evenings ahead of us.
I took Paul,Sarah and Craig for a quick run down to the sea and wow, that was a stunning experience with crystal clear conditions and beautiful a blue sky.
We ran past Heene Cemetery which has controversially been closed for a health and safety audit. I was horrified to hear from Sue that, despite her 7 years of loving nurture , she arrived to let the bee man in to tend to the hives, only to find the padlock had been changed without her knowing. We will be doing everything we can, behind the scenes to try and get Sue back into her rightful place.
Meanwhile the rest of the team Duncan, Gillybean,Barbara,Ricky,Belindaand John continued their hard work in the garden.
An hour later and we moved on to The local Brewhouse to officially raise a glass to 6 years of GoodGym Worthing.
Thank you to each and every one of you who have supported both GG and myself since 2017. I'm looking forward to many more months and years of tasks and socials with you all and not forgetting the infamous whats app thread!
See you all next week
Julia xx
