Our good weed for the day
Allot of our team couldn’t make it this evening however the firey four were determined to dig deep and crack on with the task tonight.
We’ve really enjoyed our Tuesday evenings at the allotments, helping to create a space for new and expectant mums to enjoy.
I’ve not been here for a couple of weeks now so it’s amazing to see all the individual plots looking so full of nutritional yummy food sources.
Seb, our task owner from Wexham Park Hospital’s maternity unit has done an awesome job of planting marrows, spinach, carrots, potatoes and all sort of other root vegetable. She really does have magic hands (some would say she’s has the power of fire in her hands)!
Great balls of fire..
This evening we worked on a plot, helping to skim off the long grass, clear out the debris and generally make the plot look like a flower of strength.
It really was back breaking effort tonight but oh so worth it (check out the photos)...
The team tonight consisted off :-
Smokey eyes Sandy digging away in her little pumpkin patch
This girls is on fire Kam was on it! Brute force on those grass balls!
Great balls of fire Gauri systematically ploughing through her piece
We didn’t start the fire Manjit had a few tough nuts to crack tonight but somehow managed it and
Fire starter Seb .. well what can we say about our task owner! She’s formidable! A sassy, smokey kinda lady who grows her vegetation knowledge weekly (via YouTube ) and then teaches us! And she knows how to light the perfect bonfire! Just missing the marshmellows tonight..
Earth, wind and fire
An hour spent gardening was just the thicket we needed. For me personally it felt so good to be out again with the team doing what we love doing.
We cleared half the plot of thick grassy earthiness, piled it into a bonfire haven and watched it burn baby... just as the wind came and blew the smoke into our eyes..
Same time same place next Tuesday? If you fancy getting involved then have a look at our forthcoming tasks:-
