3 GG Yorkies met near the 'Sun' for a bit of mud clearing action. Unfortunately for Leannne and Pete this wasn't, as Pete had first thought, a meeting at Egg's local pub but at the 'Sun' on the local planets walk on the way out of York. Arriving to discover that Egg had managed to track down the tools which had been cunningly hidden in ivy it might have been an interesting sight to any onlookers as Egg surely looked suspicious trawling round underneath the underpass.
The job was a simple one and without Max on the scene even Pete was able to avoid injury. Over the next hour or so the 3 Yorkies wielded their spades in hacking and digging motions to uncover a lot of grass and mud that had slowly over the years started to claim the cycle path and whilst the edges were not always perfectly straight, slowly the section of path was doubled in width. In fact it is possible that Egg has plans to ask the Tour de Yorkshire to try it for size in May. Occasionally stopping to stretch our backs or to let the occasional thankful walkers and bikers through, it was soon time to down tools and make for home for a quick bite to eat before this evenings task.
Work on the path will continue and with new tarmac down on parts of the path and woodchip on its way the path makes a nice and well used way out of York towards Selby. No doubt we will see more of it soon.
