Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Bristol runner
Sofa Ady, Dave and I have completed many missions, and many people can couch for our expertise, but tonight we were cushed to our limits.
Mrs T and her husband needed to get rid of there old 7ft sofa as it was no longer suitable and a hazard in the household. Having arranged for the council to collect it in the morning they now needed to get it to the curb. As they were not able to do this themselves, they called on the team in red to save the day (GoodGym obviously, not Bristol City, they'd just be robin people! (please note I do not believe footballers are thieves, their nickname just works as a very good pun. Could've been worse, I could've said they would have done a City job... oops.)) Anyway, as anyone who has moved a sofa before will know they are stubborn individuals who do not like leaving a room once they have settled there. It's a bit like trying to get a dog to go down the garden when it's raining outside, you're on a vinyl floor and he's got a big stick in his month wider than the doorway. This particular individual was no different. After two or three different approaches we found a screwdriver and, with some grunt, managed to take the feet off. Then with a little coaxing the cheeky seat squeezed on out into the hallway and beyond. After covering it in a tarpaulin to stay dry we moved a few items of furniture around and made the room feel homely again at the direction of Mrs T. We were all left in a very chairful state, fully furnished with fresh sofa shifting experience from our feet of ingenuity.
