Report written by Sevan
This morning Kash and Sevan found themselves at Northala Fields Junior parkrun for only the second time. As they were on the way to Marnham Field to release some 🐁 later that morning, they'd decided that helping out at a nearby Junior parkrun would be a good way to start the day.
Sevan had run there while Kash went multimodal, jumping on the tube then walking. There was a shortage of volunteers, maybe due to the bank holiday, so they were able to fill some gaps in the roster with Sevan acting as the only timekeeper 😨.
At 9am, 14 children and almost as many volunteers were present for the warm up. The volunteers got their heart rates up along with the children and when everyone was ready to run, the runners headed to the start line and the volunteers rushed to their posts.
The runner in first place was incredibly fast, reaching the finish line in 8 minutes and 18 seconds. The other runners steadily crossed the line, with the tail walker coming in at a little over 24 minutes.
The Run Director was on the last day of their Duke of Edinburgh volunteering and had been entrusted with the critical role. They'd brought chocolates for the runners and volunteers to make sure that everyone behaved themselves and so that the event ran smoothly, which it did.
Next Sunday we have a community mission at Acton Junior parkrun, so please sign up.
