Report written by Joel Wiles
22 Hackney GoodGymers ran 6k to Abney Park Cemetery to edge, dig and plant!!
Great to have you all along this evening! Huge welcome to our GoodGym first timers, hope you enjoyed the session!!
Setting off to raise the body temperature the group was being Back-marked by brand new Tower Hamlets trainer Alex, if you are free on a Monday evening check out Alex's sessions!
3k steady running with a little muscle wake up at the Bakehouse and a few minutes of plyometric hopping and jump squatting.
Heading up to Abney Park one of London's Magnificent 7 cemeteries to meet Mr Abney Park and all around good guy Tom.
A perfect task for us this evening with teams of edgers crafting a perfectly neat line around the flower beds, before their digging partners stepped in to excavate a flower trench.
With beautifully designed trenches we needed to compost crew to come through and fill it in while the Dead headers picked the flowers off the plants so they can reflower over the summer. Before planting a a perfect line of flowers into the edge of the bed.
A quick promotional photo shoot with Ollie as we left on our race back to base! The steady runners kept a strong pace at the front before the Speedsters chased us down! 3k strong running back to base with a static stretch out where we heard all about Tom's Charity 24 in 24 Challenge. If you fancy sponsoring Tom for check out his fund raising page here.
Look forward to seeing you all next week when we visit Wilton Estate Community garden.
Have a great week
Smooth Running
