In the 2nd of this community race series, EPIC's North Walsham 5k race was another amazing event with Goodgym members both racing and volunteering for this community mission ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฟโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Is was a lovely warm evening for the event which was once again chip timed by Total Race Timing.

"388 people entered the EPIC North Walsham 5K on Friday evening, which was the first race in the town and the second EPIC Norfolk race of the summer after the successful EPIC Aylsham 5K earlier in the month", reported Steven Hitcham of Excersing People In Communities. The GoodGym crew plus other volunteers and marshals met at the event headquarters in the Memorial Park to get their marshal race briefing, help set up barriers, give out race bib numbers and lend a hand wherever they could.

The start and finish line were also at the memorial park which additionally hosted a fun fair to add to the excitement of the event, along with stalls for food and drink after the exercise!

The marshalls went out to their positions to guide traffic, cheer, clap, and hi-five the participants around the race. GoodGyms' Richard Beastall led the front-runners again on his bike, guiding them around the 5k course which went through the streets of North Walsham as well as around the scenic country roads.

Steven went on to say; "North Walsham you were truly amazing and should be proud of yourselves! The streets were full of fantastically supportive North Walsham residents who were cheering the runners on, including those from Rose Court Care Home who were out in force and singing as the participants passed them. There was lots of entertainment in the park as part of the Fun Weekend, which added to the electric atmosphere". ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿฅˆ๐Ÿฅ‰๐Ÿ†

It really was a great evening and well organised event that was a pleasure to volunteer for. Once again, GoodGym are so proud of our run leader, Steven 'Hitch', for organising another great race, with profits going to local community physical activity/sports initiatives โ™ฅ๏ธ
