Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Tonight Dom and I took on a last-minute Mission to assemble a new bed for Mr. T. He'd been sleeping on his 2-seat sofa, so we were glad to get in and get the guy sorted.
After first checking online that the item in the box was indeed what it should be (it sounded like they'd bought him a child’s size from the packaging) we set to work... Argos had packed a double bed frame into an impressively snug box, but this meant there was that much more assembly for Dom and I to do. As such we made slow but steady progress but were buoyed-up when we checked the football score and saw that England were leading Colombia 1-0.
This began an anxious process of building parts, then keep checking back to make sure they hadn't equalised. At a certain point we discovered we'd made a wrong turn earlier on and would have to un-build then rebuild a large section of the bed - as if arranged by some cruel God, this happened to be the very time Colombia scored to make it 1-1. 😫 That bit wiser this time and with our Allen key fingers warmed-up, we made quick work of remedying our error and finishing the job of the frame.
We unwrapped the new mattress, pillows, duvet and bedclothes, made the bed and brought our host Mr. T through to see how we'd gotten on. He laid across the bed on his side with his hands under his head, and just lay there in silence for a few minutes as if we weren't even present. Clearly it was a real relief to finally be back on a bed and we felt blessed to see him derive so much from such a simple thing.
As we left Mr. T’s building and dropped off the packaging to the bins, we heard the sound of cheers ringing out from every direction - England had won on penalties and were through to the quarter-finals, what a night!!
