Having met the park ranger earlier in the day last nights task had been set... we'd be tackling the weed known as Fat Hen in the wild flower beds in the wonderful Walpole Park!

We were joined last night by three newbies, Sam, Clara and Lindsey. A big welcome to all of you and especially super speedy Lindsey who was visiting the area and was bought down by our lovely regular Steph. Good work on the recruitment!

As our run to the task tonight was very short we first started with a lap of the park working in Indian File taking turns to sprint to the front of the pack. With everyone competing two rotations we arrived at the tool shed to collect our weapons of choice for the evening.

We also had a couple of other tasks to do with leaf raking and sweeping mulch back onto the beds but everyone was just super keen to get stuck into the Fat Hen removal! So with those jobs completed by the end of the evening everyone was paired up with a light provided for each group to get down to weeding!

The lack of light definitely proved to be an extra challenge but by working in teams we got a lot done with at least 5 buckets full of Fat Hen taken away at the end of the night!

Before letting everyone head home for a well deserved dinner we finished up with a game of shark tag and some planking on Haven Green. Lindsey was crowned winner, sprinting to victory and was the last one to be sharkified!

A big thank you for all your helping hands and hope to see you all again next time when we will be heading to Hestia AND going to the pub afterwards. What more could you want?! Sign up here!
