Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nathan Swain
Seven goodgym runners met in Llanishen to help distribute flyers for a local youth club. The free weekly club has been running for years, since taking over from GCU who disbanded in 2010. The leader of the club informed us that the area is full of families and children who could attend the club, but maybe don't know about it.
After a short jog (every km counts in January) armed with flyers and colour coded map, the runners set about going door to door to promote the club. Aimee was lucky to finish the evening with ten fingers after a dog got so excited about the flyer that he took a huge bite out of it before it even got through the letter box (Aimee kept the half chewed flyer as a memento). One kind resident offered he could come to the club one week to give a talk on good dog care and safely interacting with them - from Aimee's experience the runners could've done with his help as a pre mission briefing.
The club leader was extremely grateful for the help, stating a job that would've taken him a whole night was completed in no time at all. We look forward to hearing whether there are new children going along to the club due to our efforts.
