What would Bamber Gascoigne have said?
About what, you may ask.
And that would be a good question. Because Mr Gascoigne had a lot to say about a lot.
However, I still haven't answered your question. About what am I talking about when I ask 'what would Bamber Gacoigne have said?'
And I probably should answer you.
So let me do that.
Where was I?
That was it - about what was I talking about when I asked 'what would Bamber Gascoigne have said?'
Why, of course, I'm talking about our two very special heroes of altruism, Marta and Jenny; who have clocked up an astonishing 400 and 200 good deeds respectively. Which means they've helped the people and places in our communities 600 times between them. It's awesome and it's inspiring, thank you, both :)
Now you may also be wondering - why was I talking about Bamber Gascoigne? Well mainly because 'starter for ten' rhymes with Marta for Jen.
But let's skate over that.
And move onto our evening of good-deeding. Following a quick warm-up (and our first in daylight this year) in the Naval College, this merry group, buoyed by Marta and Jen's achievements, took a happy and steady jog over to our friends at More2Childcare, where we were met by our good friend, Eve.
Which is where we split into small groups - several cleaning chairs and tables; one pruning, tidying, and weeding; and another building and assembling some flat-pack shelving.
45 minutes felt very quick on Wednesday, despite us managing to make a noticeable difference at this lovely nursery.
Then we headed off into the night... and onto the pub for a touch of celebration for our good-deeding friends.
Nice one.

Proceeds to google the guy... "Arthur Bamber Gascoigne CBE FRSL was an English television presenter and author. He was the original quizmaster on University Challenge, which initially ran from 1962 to 1987." Gutted to have missed this convo
