Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
The Big Park Sleepover it is a free community event for local families where they get to sleep out under the stars and enjoy a huge array of fun activities. Goodgym were asked to help take down the tents afterwards.
As the first tent was taken down it quickly became apparent that a disproportionate share of the skill resided in one member of the team. With one runner demonstrating a refined and seemingly effortless technique; laying out, folding and rolling into a perfect bag-sized bundle, the other proceeded to hit himself over the head with a tent pole (and incur a rather nasty - if rather microscopic - fibre glass splinter).
There were rather fewer tents than anticipated so it soon became a spaghetti-western-style stand off between the (also-assisting) army cadets and the Goodgym duo as the members of each vied to become the first to pounce on the next potential tent victim.
Meanwhile, there were happy sounds all around as the numerous children participating in the event enjoyed wand whittling workshops and tag games - and some of the adults participated in a drum workshop.
Finally, after a brief interruption in which the resident GG tent packing expert accompanied a lost child back to their mum, the last available tent was dismantled and the runners parted to enjoy the rest of the uncharacteristically sunny bank holiday.
