Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
26 wonderful runners headed south of the river to help the Southville Patchway Project on Tuesday night.
The run got off to a slightly odd start - on the spur of the moment as we were doing introductions, I said 'I'm Pru and I like chocolate'. Next to me, Gary stated that he was Gary and he liked cheese. Around the circle we went and each person declared their love, hatred, or indifference about fromage. We're clearly a diverse bunch here at GoudaGym!
Chris B led the run, which was short, flat and fast - back markering was Kim and Charlie, who were both suffering a little from Edam Forest of Dean run on Sunday (Edam = a damn... geddit? It gets worse from here!). Both got in to the top 50 female runners so it was ok that they took it a little cheesy yesterday. In between the two was the usual mix of runners, from your hard core Parmesan types to your slightly less experienced mild Cheddar bods.
Once on site at South Street park, we Caerphilly did a litter pick - in de Brie around the park there was some glass, so we had to exercise caution , whilst some other ran off to other parts of Southville to weed some planters and various little flower beds, generally making the area look a lot Feta. It didn't take long to do these tasks, so as we were on a school playing field we decided to embrace our inner child and play a game of stuck in the mud - a tag game where the person tagged has to stand still whilst another player has to commando crawl through their legs. Everyone went a bit Emmental and found it hard to stand Stil(ton) for long. The two big cheeses, Rachel and David, made excellent chasers, putting in a grate effort all the whey and it is clearly a game that we're all very fondue of.
As we had a little time spare, we whipped through some press-ups ad bur-cheese, then ran back to the Folk House as fast as we curd as it was starting to hail-oumi! Luckily we got back o-Queso.
Our evening got had one final curdle as whilst we were stretching in the court-yarg of the Folk House, taking up all the room as always, an older chap wandered through the group and offered to take his clothes off so that he could stretch out with us. That's Bristol for you!
As always, you guys totally Roquefort, so don't brie a stranger. Remember that next week and the week after, the Folk House will be closed for the Easter holidays, so do check where we're going to start from next week.
