Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Laura Denham
We have been meeting at Coventry Boys and Girls Club for some time now and tonight we were able to help them with a long overdue tidy up of their youth work room cupboard.
The cupboard is used to house all the arts, craft supplies and games that are regularly used by the girls and boys that attend the club. Our task was to neatly box up all the items so that this makes it a more pleasant experience for the people that use it.
When we arrived all the items had been pulled out of the cupboard and all the new clear boxes were ready for us to sort and fill, the task owner also wanted some shelving from another room brought into the craft cupboard. Deb and Jackie set to work bringing the shelving unit through whilst Maddie, Andy and I started on grouping different items together ready to store. We were all sorting the like things together, paints, scissors, paper and games. Jackie and Deb did some doodling to see if all the pens worked and Maddie had fun tidying up the halloween costumes and decorations. Once the items were grouped we started to fill the clear boxes with the supplies.
Finally it was the good bit, packing it all onto the shelves nice and neat! The new boxes made it easy to stack everything on top of one another, maximising the storage space and they also make it much easier to see what’s inside of them. The floors were swept then it was time to pack up and go.
Great work everyone! Check out the before and afters - the before pictures were from a meeting with the task owner to discuss what needed doing, what a difference!
