A merry band of GoodGymers, not quite Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, but nevertheless we met up at Marlpit Community Gardens on a warm, overcast evening to unleash some more GoodGym deeding on the community. A rainbow graced us it’s presence whilst we waited to start which is always a good thing, right?! Especially during Run For Pride month!

Our task tonight was to help clear, tidy and weed areas of the gardens. We were briefed with the details of two main tasks and we quickly split off into two groups.

The Terrific Trio of Mark, Pete and Stephen went over to the far side of the allotment with their spades and forks at the ready to make a molehill out of a mountain of garden waste that needed moving and flattening out. They made easy work of it and the job was a good ‘un v 1.0!

The rest of us got to work with our hoes, shears, brooms and wheelbarrow to clear the small car park area of weeds – our aim to reveal the edges of the paving. It was harder than a gym session or going for a run, I can feel some of us suffering gardening DOMS tomorrow. I’d like to point out that I learnt that there is a certain skill to using a pair of shears efficiently and optimally! It was most satisfying to get the area cleared and see all the edges - the job was a good ‘un v2.0!

Good stuff Marlpit Crew!
