GoodGym Cardiff and Vale were keen to help our friends at Cwtch Together with their storage unit before the forthcoming lockdown. Having taken some time to assess the task at the previous community mission on Saturday, we'd all done our homework! Marie had helpfully found a ten minute video that made it look simple. We just needed a plan, a step ladder, a drill and the ever present can-do attitude of GoodGym runners.

Keen to make progress, some members of the team arrived early to start the plan. Andrew even carried his own step ladder from home to ensure we could reach the upper echelons of the roof! With the video fresh in our memory, we started to put together the side panels and they gradually slotted into place. With a strong wind, they were blowing back and forth so a GoodGymmer stepped in to hold the panels in place - can you guess the GoodGymmer from the attached photo?!

Other members of GoodGym Cardiff and Vale began arriving. Using Andrew's clearly worked through plan, each group had a task. Martin, Sophie, Jemma and Nic helped pre construct the doors whilst Andrew, Marie, Mikey and Emma continued with the main structure.

The team worked through the wind and the rain until gradually, the unit started coming together and began to look like a proper structure. Determined to leave with a near complete building we worked into the night until all that was left was the task of attaching the doors. The unit was watertight and nearly ready to store the toys! Sarah at Cwtch Together was so happy with our efforts, explaining that the charity made a huge difference to the children they support and their families.

This was a mammoth team effort and everyone played a huge role in getting it done - thank you so much. Now just two more of the same units to construct...but we'll have a little break until after lockdown!
