Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
Despite a fury of rain at the start of this session, which many of us escaped, Daryl, Laura, Lindy, Sam and Vic met up Kate from Surrey Docks Farm for our monthly session with her.
There were two main tasks at hand - bagging up manure and weeding / removing the vine-y hops off the fence.
After getting the necessary tools, we split the group in two. Daryl, Lindy and Sam were tasked with bagging up and throwing back manure. Lindy and Sam bagged up the manure and did 14 bags within an hour whilst Daryl flung back the straw type manure to the back of the heap.
Meanwhile, Laura, Vic and Kate concentrated upfront as they pulled back the hops and weeded the path to keep the council happy.
As always, the last 30 minutes of these sessions are dedicated to cuddle with the animals. Our animal of choice this time were the sheep, but they weren't in the mood to cuddle (bar one or two), so we went over to the goats who were more affectionate.
Thanks Kate for hosting and see you next month! 🐐🐏
