I arrived at Ms S’s house and received a warm welcome from Ms S and her son! Ms S opened the side gate and showed me into her beautiful garden complete with two very autumnal looking trees!

Ms S explained that she loved her garden but after suffering with poor health a year ago, she was only able to do a little at a time. Ms S also outlined how the garden was helping her recovery as she enjoyed looking out at nature and the birds.

Time to make a start! Ms S requested that I try to cut back some of the greenery to enable more light to access the front garden. This involved cutting back the Laurel trees (hence the pun!). After making a good start, Ms S offered me the use of a set of steps. This meant a far extended reach!

After doing as much as I possibly could, the heavens started to open and it was time to pack up. (The photos don’t appear to show a huge difference but Ms S felt that I’d done a lot.)

Ms S said how grateful she was for the help and that it was nice to meet somebody new. In return I was grateful for the reason to get some fresh air on a beautiful autumn day.

As we parted, we both agreed that our plan for the remainder of the day was the next episode of Strictly and the sofa!
