Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
9 GoodGymers set out from Odd Down Sports Centre on a 4.6km run to cut some willow for Transition Bath.
It was a damp, grey Saturday morning but it didn't stop us at GoodGym Bath - we even had some visitors from our friends in Bristol. Dave, Alex, Charlie, Debs and Matt - thanks for coming and helping us make light work of this task! After heading down the Wellsway with a very energetic and bouncy Charlie, we arrived at Bloomfield allotments, where the task was to prune some willow trees.
Armed with secateurs, we set to work trimming the yellow sprouting branches from the trees. With Matt up the ladder tacking the higher branches, we made quick work of the pruning. The chickens were very vocal and seemed to approve of our efforts! Debs displayed some crafty skills and whipped up a willow wreath wrapped in ivy and the runners set to work on collecting the branches into bundles for our host Virginia to tie up, ready for the willow to be whisked away.
With the obligatory group photo taken, it was just the steep run up Bloomfield Road that stood between us and a cup of tea. We said goodbye to Alison here but the rest of us gritted our teeth and got going!
Hills don't scare us here in the South West
And so we made it back in one piece for a nice hot cuppa at the Sports Centre! Thank you again to our visitors from Bristol. The extra pairs of hands were definitely welcome! And thanks to Dave for the run pun - he knows what we willow willow want at GoodGym Bath!
