Six lager lout legends ran a 10k trail race
We met at Voodoo Keller raring to go, chuckled at Rich's race number (69 obviously as he was back marking the race) and limbered up. Also happy birthday Joel!
The route was a 10k narrative trail run, with the Strava map being very useful. The starter pistol went BANG and off we shot. Russell and myself got off to a flier and were leading, with me having little clue where we were going.
We hit Chelmsford Brew Co. taproom at the halfway point in the lead and got our pints. Sipping them the others showed up not long after. We headed out again for the slightly more urban route back.
Running like the wind and only minorly getting lost in a field which had been cut back so we couldn't tell where the footpath was, we headed back into Chelmsford. I left Russell in my wake with 100m to go and shot through the finish line as first finisher with Russel in second! It wasn't long before Laurie, Joel and Andy finished - we were all very impressed with ourselves all finishing in the top half.
The cheese toastie and another beer (with the extra nachos) went down a treat. It was bloody sweaty back at the Voodoo Keller finish and sorry for stinking the place out.
Special shoutout to Andy for his first 10k for over two years!
Myself and Joel then stayed to have more beers before I decided jogging home after about six pints and a 10k was a good idea. It wasn't.
Thanks to Graham at Multisport Management for putting on the great race - will defo look out for more! Great route, great race.
