After a wee mix up, 6 Goodgymmers helped sort out donations to the York Food Bank. It was also Steph's first ever task and hopefully the first of many!

Maxine at the food bank was worried there wouldn't be enough for us to do, apologising for the "very small" pile (10 crates worth) of food to sort. But she needn't have worried! Between working out where the types of food went, sifting out gifts and christmas items, arranging crates in best-before-date order and adding crates onto tbe ever growing stacks, there was plenty to do!

Christine took the time to give herself a mental challenge, trying to remember where everything was at once! Meanwhile, John and Emma got onto tins and pasta and Ellie and Kate lost a good 15 minutes in toilettry land!

We thought we were done. Maxine brought out the cups of tea. Everyone was getting either peckish or cold. And then, fortunately, another delivery arrived... and then another!

In the next lull, we snapped a quick group pic before darting off before another delivery arrived! We had to leave something for tomorrow's mission to do!

Haha. Great report Ellie. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone. It's a good time to mention the Lumosity app on Android phones, the icon has a side profile head on an orange background; free and gives one's brain a great workout; I came across it via Community Health Champion volunteer training on mental health. Helping out sorting at the York Foodbank is a similar mental challenge but you get to socialize with Maxine and Adam at the same time. Keeping active in the community one's whole life and we can all be as healthy as those living in Pioppi, Italy, where people chopping wood every day live on average to 107!!!!!!! Get out for walks and runs as much as you can this holiday and have fun!
