🇮🇹Italy Run - 5k in tricolore! 🇮🇹
*sings * ‘O Sooole miooo’, oh wait, no sunshine, just a very wet Sunday morning, when Nadia travelled to London to take part in the first ever ‘Italy run’ organised by the Italian consulate. 🏃♀️ The place was buzzing with warm smiles and sweet sounds of the Italian language. First things first, a pre run cappuccino in the nearby cafe! At the race number collection point everybody was given a lovely ‘azzurro’ blue T-shirt to wear featuring the tricolore Italian flag 🇮🇹. Following some welcoming speeches from the consul general and the mayor of Kensington and Chelsea, all participants did a quick warm up then everybody made their way to the start line. In front, you could see a sea of blue which was quite something! Thankfully the rain 🌧️stopped just as the race started and off everybody went through Holland Park and the streets of Kensington. The course was straightforward, apart from a horrible hill, but the last kilometre was amazing running back through Holland Park and seeing and hearing the finish line with the cheering spectators - just the motivation that was needed! 😀 After the event, there were plenty of joyful faces in celebration 🎉 of Italy and Italian culture and many Italian themed vendors were offering free coffee cans, pasta, and mozzarella with tomato, the perfect post race snack! 😋The prizes for the winners of the categories included a huge box of pasta, which definitely would have been a great reward! All entry fees were donated to 2 charities, one in Italy, and one in London, so all in all a great day for great causes! 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
