Wow, we ended January with a BANG!
Earlier today, we closed off our last Community Mission for January with a whopping 100 plus non perishable items donated to Slough Outreach and the homeless friends they serve! Shin was so humbled with our generosity...these items will be bagged to make up goody bags which Shin and his team will distribute out to those in need...it's always good to spead a little happ-pea-ness
Can February March? No, but April May!
So, back to the January Challenge! (I'm kinda sad it's over...)
We had a target of 80 good deeds and boy have we worked hard to get the numbers in...we finish the month with a wonderful hundred and two! Thank you all for going the extra mile... and activating your Strava's every time you left the house...some people won't even have driven the miles you ran in a day!
On our last group run of January, not only did we have the pleasure of Ivo joining us, we also had a new member Nimi come along! So good to see you both!
Foxy Foxborough
With the welcome brief and warm up done, we headed down the High St towards Common Rd with Super Sutyee leading the way.
Now, it's lucky a group of runners in Slough can easily be identified as GoodGym runners, as Ivo saw the runners lights and headed straight towards us! How impressive is that! Glad you found us Ivo...
The task tonight was over at Hawkers Hill in Foxborough Ward of Langley. Cllr Bedi had asked us to go and give the area a tidy up, but sadly she was unable to meet us there so a local resident (Patrick) was on hand to give us the tools to get the get the job done!
Sitting on the fence
Why use a gate when you can jump over the fence instead? We started the evening in the fenced off (but deffo had a gate)...sapling trees area and picked a few golden eggs here before climbing (I mean using the gate), to leave to the wider open spaces to hoard some more.
So, lets see what we found today..
I can recall Sandy and Kam finding a stereo in crisp packet condition with Jean and Pam rummaging a remote contol near the collection of clothing which we believe was left after a gruelling game of golf however, I could be wrong but luckily the diva light helped us trawl through the bushes and fill 5 bags of rubbish...it was a tyreing job but someone has to do it and we have a litter love for cleaning up the environment!
Poo! think I covered it all!
Skipping Leg Day
I thought it would be hill-areas to get the team to run up and down the Hill at Hawkers Hill, however, I thought better of it after seeing how dark it was and opted for a bit of out and back partner racing (though I think I forgot to tell the team that they were competing against each other..oops)!
Anyways, we finished with my famous leg burner then headed back to our start location all happy as Larry that we had come out on a Monday night and done something good!
Next week, we are over at The Langley Academy Primary School tidying up their Reception play area.
PS - There are loads of tasks logged for February - even a Valentines Day one! (who needs dinner, roses and chocolates when we can have a GoodGym session instead).
