Report written by Jer Boon
Today, we header over to the Quaker Burial Ground for a regular garden maintenance session.
Sam and Emily did some heavy duty clearance of some unwanted vegetation, and a bit of planting.
Art and Aaron did some work on some patches of turf which are being seeded.
Jer was feeling a bit under the weather, and filled up a bird feeder and cleared leaves off the lawn.
And then we had some tea and biscuits. They always treat us well here :)
We are restoring a burial garden/ ground which has been located in Widcombe, Bath since the 1830s. The burial ground is no longer used for burials but there are still occasional scatterings of ashes. The garden had become very overgrown so we are restoring the borders and in the process uncovering hidden memorial stones. We are also creating a new wildflower patch and hope to encourage more wildlife to the garden. We would like to open up this beautiful space for quiet meditation and reflection not just by Quakers but the local community.
