Report written by Mark Gilyead (he/him)
After many a splatter throughout the day, we just about dodged the rain on tonight's Group Run! I'm not sure our flyers would have got on well with the water...
Tonight we were joined by a couple of new faces - Sophie who came to her very first GG activity, and Olivia who made the trek down from Greenwich! Great to have you both join :)
After a quick chat about desert island foods and a quick warm up in the park we split into two groups to distribute our pile of 500 flyers!
The Friends of Crystal Palace Dinos help promote the beasts' bizarre history and raise awareness and support for their restoration. They have occasional heritage days for the public to learn more, and that was what our flyers were advertising.
We did roads right by the park so we were done in no time and got a good run/walk between doors! 500 flyers gone in a jiffy - Nice one gang!
Friends of Crystal Palace Dinosaurs works with Bromley council to make sure the Dinosaur statues in Crystal Palace Park are conserved and the area around them well-maintained. We also do public engagement work to help the public connect with the statues, and understand their place in the history of science, local area history, and palaeontology. We are currently crowdfunding a permanent bridge over to Dinosaur Island in the CP Park lake (where most of the statues are found) which will enable us to run more tours, and to carry out conservation work on the statues and gardening on the island.

Great to meet you Sophie! Give me a shout if you have any questions about our regular runs (they usually just have a longer run) but hopefully see you soon!
