Report written by Jonny Carter
On a rather soggy night after torrential rain during the afternoon, understandably we were slightly down on our groups numbers. However we still had six keen runners ready to do some good.
We all ran down to the canal and did the litter pick as one group. We easily filled two large bags of rubbish, with Will and Laura the bag holders and John, Hasnain and Miriam the pickers. Once that was done we headed to Aston Lock to drop the bags off before heading to Millennium Point for some time-trial fun!
Once at the time-trial destination, after a quick H and S briefing about the slippery corners the group would be negotiating, they were on their way. The time-trial is 1 mile, John and Hasnain led the way, with Will not far back, the latter Running a new PB, which is rather impressive given the less than favourable conditions. Laura and Miriam worked well together as they pulled each other along. Miriam running a fantastic time of just over eight minutes in what was her first time-trial!
Once done it was time for a steady run back to 1000 Trades and of course as if the group hadn’t already worked hard enough already, this was mainly up hill! Anyway everyone got back suitably tired, but luckily apart from a little light rain while we were on the canal, the wet stuff held off! Nice one!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.
