Report written by Paul Anderson
In direct contrast to the governments current theme of 'levelling up' tonight's task was all about 'levelling down'. A small (but significant!) area of land near Acomb Wood needed levelling and clearing to allow bluebells and wild garlic to flourish there in the future.
Despite Paul Kelly's best efforts to discover some ancient Roman artefacts the dig didn't quite descend to such depths. Instead, much more recently discarded (although still possibly dating back to pre-covid times) bricks and drinks cans were the only notable finds.
Following a solid hours work the transformation of the area was complete and even a spirit level would struggle to prove the area was anything other than perfectly flat... honest!
All the runners even had the will power to refuse cake at the end of the task... but the fresh cherries were a different story... yum yum!!
