Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Kash
I was happy to sign for Mrs U's shopping mission because I discovered her area while doing other tasks - I felt like a boss already knowing the location of the shops. Little did I know that Mrs U had special preferences for the store... 80% of the shopping was to be done at Lidl, 1.5 miles away from the spot. When Mrs U found out I had no bike to hop on, she had concerns about whether I will be able to complete the mission. I was not sure whether it was about my inconspicuous looks or that she did not believe in the GG infantry division. Nothing personal - but I had to convince her to hand me the shopping list! I assured her I did shopping tasks that required a decent amount of walking and that I do strength training daily, so carrying tins and milk bottles is not a big deal. Finally, I resorted to flexing my bicep. I know - a bit embarrassing move - but hey, that did the trick! I was so excited about the extra challenge that I missed my turn when running. Typical! At Lidl, it turned out that half of the items I was supposed to get were out of stock. Luckily, there was a big Saino's nearby, so I got almost everything else from there. Sadly, I could not get the marble cake and had to call and ask about the replacement option. Another item that was surprisingly hard to get were kidney beans! I found a single squashed tin and bought it but was not impressed with the quality of my service. On my way back I popped into a smaller shop where, miraculously, I found a decent looking can of beans. I bought it for myself, then swapped the tins. I apologised to Mrs for running slightly late but she seemed happy with the outcome anyway. She praised and blessed me which was even more rewarding than meeting a cat resident of the building earlier on.
