Plant Power
After some extremely wet weather it was a relief to finally have a dry and still evening on our sunny south coast promenade !
It seems like ages since we all met up at our pre covid regular weekly meeting point but at the same time very familiar.
For a very short time Paul led the running group tonight. When I say a very short time I actually mean about 20 seconds before he took a tumble over a ( slightly ) raised flowerbed. This was the start of a 12 hour catastrophy as the following morning he fell off his bike and slashed the other knee too ! Wishing you a speedy recovery Paul - next time take more water with it :) :) :)
With my bags of spring bulbs and tools being taken care of I took over Paul's ( one) job and led the group for a run out and around the pier. This elite group of runners consisted of Greg aka Craig and a close relation to Tracey, Sarah Anne and Rosalind
The now injured warrior Paul John and our very lovely Mrs R Belinda were our elite walkers and who were shortly after joined by Ricky.
Once at our seafront flower bed the fun started.
*The Big Yellow Plant Out *
After Ricky, Paul and Mrs R cleared, weeded sorted the remnants of the summer plants, they started planting out the white daffodil bulbs. The big yellow bulbs weren't such easy pickings. Closely related to a Bush Tucker Trial the team had to earn their bulbs with a series of bodyweight functional exercises with bulbs attached to them ( either between their knees or under their chins)
After wall sits, squats, lunges . tricep dips and press ups the team consisting of Mr R, Ros, Anne, Sarah and Craig ran their prize a good 100 metres along the prom to the planting team. This was a good fun game ! Ros rose to the challenge managing to work my old android phone to capture some photos of the group!
Run, walk, stretch, reflection and ?
Once the bed was planted up and fitness was done the team chose to either run or walk back ( some via the pier)
One question for your contemplation for this week is ...
Apart from an umbrella (?!!) that we rumbled, what on earth does Sarah carry in her yellow high vis waterproof jacket?!! Clue : A plethora of heavy items! post your ideas on the whats app thread
See you next week. Same meeting point at SPLC
Have a great week - December has arrived !
Julia xx
