Report written by Danny
On this cloudy, yet warm Saturday morning, 7 GoodGymmers from GG Barnet, Brent and Camden gathered together at Millennium Green. The last time a GG group had been there was 3 months prior, so our lovely hosts were really grateful to have us.
Anne welcomed us and told us a bit more about the park. The Green was created on what used to be railway land with air raid shelters. Now it is community-run space, vastly used by the local residents.
Our tasks today included, but were not exclusive to:
litterpicking - We collected the record 20 bags of litter. Undeniably, the prize for the strangest piece of litter goes to a double bed mattress.
cutting the grass along the path that was overgrown.
trimming the hedges and tidying up the area around the bins, so they can be easily accessible.
After this was accomplished, 3 volunteers decided to stay a bit longer and help with some outstanding tasks. Great work! :))
P. S. Thanks to Paul who brought some litterpickers and gloves to be used at the task.
Barnet
It will help make the reservoir cleaner and safer for visitors and the many plants, birds and animals that live there.
