I joined the Parks and Open spaces volunteer group for their regular Thursday session. Today they were at Riverside Park. We were tasked with checking on the planted saplings to make sure they were doing well, clearing weeds from around them, and adding mulch (lots!) to keep the weeds at bay. Most of the saplings were looking good though some needed a few dead leaves removing and straightening up! There was lots of wheelbarrowing of mulch all along the fence line which was hard work. A tea and biscuit break was welcomed before continuing with the task. Once all the mulch was spread out, and the weeds cleared away, there was a quick litter pick before it was time to finish up.
