Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by York runner
We turned up at Mrs M's place to be met by the lovely, fluffy white pooch that was Poppy the West Highland Terrier.
She was not fluffy and white for very long, since our task was to clear the overgrown vegetable patch which was not only overgrown, but over-watered with some overflow from the water butt pipes, making it a bit of a mucky swamp.
The wet and claggy soil made it easy to pull out deep-set weeds, but is definitely not the best environment for keeping your excitable Westie clean and dry.
Barbara started by extracted many bamboo canes and bits of wood which we stashed neatly behind the shed, then we each de-weeded our way in from either side whilst Poppy splish-sploshed about the place throwing mud in all directions.
We found a paved pathway at the back which Mrs M didn't even know was there, so we cleared that up and used a loose slab to make a little island in the swampy bit so we could pull out the weeds in the middle.
Mrs M and her two friends couldn't believe the difference and were wondering if GoodGym did carpet-cleaning too after Poppy had roamed inside...
