Red is the new black

Monday evening means just one thing for me! Its meet the team on GoodGym night! Picture the scene ! With a few cancellations this evening I was delighted to see Belinda, Sue, Anne, Paul and , wait for it .......Tamsin rocking her brand new red t shirt !

With some general chat and catch up news the team set off on a gentle warm up run through the town and ending up at Byron road at the Worthing Churches Homeless project where we were given a warm welcome by Martin and Richard who outlined our task for the evening.

Girl Power

We headed out to the back courtyard garden to do some tidying up and weeding and clearing of the decking. The rain at the weekend made this task a lot easier. One of the residents, Lisa, pitched in to lend a hand too completing an all female ground force team in the back garden.

Leaf me alone

Was it something we said as Paul decided that he would do some leaf clearing in the front on his own so armed with a broom and some impressive upper body strength he enjoyed some peace and quiet until the rest of the team rocked up to join him for some weeding of the front garden beds. Some entertaining conversation and social planning took us all the way through to the end of the task and with a cheery wave we all set off on the second part of the run.

Worthing prom becomes Sunset Boulevard

Wow what a run it was! When we got to the seafront I briefed the team about our fitness session based on running technique and 20 second sprints . This is a great way of encouraging increased speed and stride length. We started with a 5 minute running specific functional and mobility based warm up before the timed sprints began.

After the first rep we suddenly noticed a huge orange harvest moon appearing from the sea and from that moment on we were spellbound and snap happy both with the moon in the east and the stunning sunset in the west .

After 8 reps of efforts we took a detour to run down the pier to try and get some more amazing photo opportunities which I think we all managed very successfully . We all remarked what a truly stunning evening it had been and the whole group was filled with happy feel good vibes.

With Paul, Tamsin and Anne completing the night with 20 burpees we stretched out and agreed that next week really will be a fish and chip night !
