Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Kash
After my first lunch break mission, I promised myself not to try running missions during that time window. Do you think I kept my promise? Of course not.
I chose my favourite back street route to Ealing Broadway. I tried to run on the parts of the pavement that had some sun exposure during this beautiful day but here and there I stomped on glazed ice. I managed to avoid doing a side split this time - that almost happened to me yesterday during my morning training (I was not practising splits!).
When I got close to the task location, a lady approached me on the street. It turned out she was my ally! She recognised the GoodGym red shirt and asked if I'm here to do the gardening work. We walked together while she called Ms B's daughter to announce our arrival.
The stairs and the path to the garden were not only covered with damp leaves. There were also some rubbish bags with debris laying around. I welcomed the opportunity to clear them out as I never say no to carrying a few heavy bags. I was provided with a broom, a shovel and a helping hand from the lady who guided me to the task location. In no time the leaves were packed into bags and taken out. There were two old suitcases outside I was tempted to take to the bin area but Ms B was very attached to them, so they have been spared. Now the path and the steps seemed much safer for Ms B anyway.
This task was the closest to gardening I got so far with GoodGym. Finally, I was able to test my gardening gloves and they have done well. I overran my lunch break only by 8 minutes - on a sunny Friday afternoon, no one seemed to care less about that!
