For the first part of the afternoon session, I remained in the Church with people arriving, checking-in and immediately able to go through to the Surgery. It was a lovely quick process and the patients were very happy not to have to hang around too long. Then, with new volunteers arriving, I was moved over to the surgery where I renewed my position of bringing patients from the treatment rooms to the waiting room and exit. Just a few people were required to sit for 15 minutes if they were driving or cycling or waiting for a taxi (keeping them in the warm). Today one of the Nurses had a set of lovely bright green scrubs, but no matching gloves this time! I also noticed for the first time a little play area along the back wall of the waiting room, but no takers today! Although I was tempted ….. To fill some time between patients, I pre-prepared some of the vaccine cards with the name of the vaccine (Astra Zeneca/Oxford), the date and the batch details so that all the nurses needed to do was to add a name. These cards will act as ‘proof’ that the patients have had their first vaccine, so need to be kept safe. Today was my lucky day, as once again, I had my cuppa made for me and enjoyed grabbing some interesting chats with the nurses inbetween patients. Icing on the cake? We got to finish the clinic early, and my feet were very happy!
