Area Activator for GoodGym Portsmouth. I swear like a sailor, burp like a foghorn. Human A - Z of Portsmouth. Ultimately charming.

Dave, Alice and I spent a couple of hours helping out at the Enable Ability Summer Fair this afternoon.
Dave was on the bric-a-brac stall, whilst Alice and I manned the tombola, lucky dip and the name the enormous dog game.
Our help was very much appreciated, and Alice also convinced Dave to donate to this great cause by having a turn on every stall going before we left!

Superb efforts from everyone who took part in litter picks across Portsmouth and beyond today!
Mel and Vicki kicked things off nice and early with a pick at Alexandra Park, although Jane was actually first in with her pick last night! Julie received plenty of praise from passers by as she cleaned up by Lidl. Laura and her dog, Woody, completed an early morning beach clean. It seems Woody was disappointed he didn't find any snacks, only food wrappers!
We've had a trolley retrieved from the chalk cliffs of Paulsgrove by Lucy and Duncan, a beach clean in Bracklesham with an accompanying sea dip for Judy and Val and a whopping 16 mile run with a cemetery litter pick by Andy!
Nia and baby Zoe headed to Southampton Common for their pick, whilst Dave and I took a stroll through Sherwood Forest to burn off a very unnecessary sundae!
Ness and Sinéad focused on the shoreline for their picks at Fort Cumberland and Langstone Harbour respectively.
We'll be back to normal next week with a visit to the You Trust in North End for some painting and decorating. Hopefully see you in person then!

It was our first time at junior parkrun. We enjoyed the park , and it was such a pleasure to see all those assorted children in the fresh air , trying hard and enjoying themselves .
It was lovely to have Pat and Rob to visit at Eastney junior parkrun, which I believe is their first GoodGym task away from the Food Bank. As you can see from Pat's quote above, it was a lovely morning supporting the next generation of runners.
Mascot Albie and mini-GoodGymer Alice were both a little bonkers and not quite sure what to do with themselves, whereas little Aida certainly kept Aoife in check as tailwalker!
Also boosting our numbers today was Rob, our longest serving Run Director, who has only recently informed me he is also registered with GoodGym. He and Duncan made a great team as timekeeper and funnel manager!

After a much hillier run than the average Portsmouth GG session, we got stuck in with some weeding tasks under the supervision of the lovely Sue and Father Hugo.
Duncan very kindly came along to take some photos for us after a knee op yesterday, and was able to wield a hoe one-handed whilst using his crutches - that's got to be a skill for the CV!
Lucy enjoyed modeling some of the prettier clumps of weeds as fascinators, whilst Jen shared the difference between centipedes and millipedes through the means of interpretive dance.
We passed the time by sharing some of our favourite one-liner jokes including, the inspiration for Lucy and Duncan's dinner -
The police were called to a fish and chip shop. The fish had been battered and the chips were as-salt-ed!
