Report written by Liz (She/her)
Dodging rain the entire time, a good-sized group met at the Tap Tavern where Jack led a run along the riverside path to Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts. We have been helping them for the past four months to work on the grounds around their dream new base. We have seen a great transformation in that time and Russell who assigns the tasks to us wanted to share their gratitude for the changes we have helped to make.
Tasks this time were leaf clearance, composting, weeding and collecting loose wood that has come in from the tide for the Scouts to create a bug hotel with. With plenty of nettles and a lingering wasp nest, there was plenty of need for caution, but noone got hurt. All 9 GoodGymers worked until the light faded before heading back to the bright lights of Richmond centre. The completed run was just short of 5km with a great mix of core, leg, glute and arm workouts with the tasks in between!
A big welcome to Peter who joined us for his first run and got stuck straight into some compost distributing with Jp. Also to Sarah Jane who joined us from her usual Redbridge area. And to Lucy who has an impressive GoodGym record in Hammersmith & Fulham and has just moved to the Richmond area. We were very happy to have you all along and hope that you, and as many more as can make it, will be able to join us for the Community Mission at Ham Lands on Saturday (see session listings) and to next Monday's group run to our riverside plot at Three Pigeons, followed by our monthly social at the Tap Tavern in Richmond.
