Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Another chilly winter's evening met by a lovely bunch of GoodGym runners with indomitable spirit. We had the pleasure of welcoming two newbies, Jamie and Megan Plus we had Hin returning to the fold after a prolonged stretch out.
Very content with yesterday's numbers, a massive 14, I foresee us hitting 20 by summer. The big group rolled outside for some much needed warm up moves and a mildly informative ramble from myself. Alex sent me some excellent 'random questions' (GoodGym Newham warm up ritual)...so we learnt about our fellow runner's superstitions and office pet peeves. There was some head rubbing, anti three drain cover, football dressing routine. I liked Mairead's office pet peave "when people use office jargon" ie "touching base" and "can you liaise with" - what does it all mean?!?!
2.5miles, some chit chat, heavy breathing and a small spill form Alex later....we had reached Boleyn Rd. with tonnes of gravel to lay, the team organically formed into three distinct groups. The rakers, barrowers and the shovellers. The 14 person strong unit worked quickly and diligently. Close to two tonnes of gravely stuff was shovelled, then wheeled over 30 metres to the far side of the garden. Where it was levelled out. Siobhan employed a unique method, you could tell of her Irish heritage as she tap danced Michael Flatley style all over that gravel, nice one!
You guys got through loads, Myra dropped me a line today to say how appreciative she was. I reckon we've got a few more tasks here though, now you guys are fully drilled on the work...think next time you'll be an even more efficient unit of GOOD.
Next week I believe we are heading to Cody Dock. We'll be doing industrial scale watering I believe... there's an awesome route down there too.
ps. I'm a Personal Trainer/Running Coach for those that don't know, I realise I'm currently hobbling about, but I used to move better! Anyway, if you have any questions about your running or training, I'd be happy to help - that's what I'm here for.
pps GoodGym Newham Facebook there's some useful bits on here, good way to keep in touch. Get on it.
Look forward to touching base with you all next week.
