These bank holidays roll on fast, don't they?
Well this Monday SIX awesome runners joined me to do good in Brent. We ran just over 6km to help Harlesden Town Garden!
Today Kavita joined GGB for her first ever GG run, well done and especially for making the effort on a bank holiday.
One fir all, all fir one
After a quick intro - big news: Tabitha has new trainers! - we did a quick warm up and with running watches beeping we were on our way.
After a speedy run we made it to Harlesden Town Garden and said hello to Gabriel and Phillip. The task today... snipping and chopping. We split into groups with Liz and Marcos taking big choppers and breaking down larger branches and sticks. The remainder were taking Fir tree branches and snipping the green fronds off to be used as a natural weed suppressant.
Good fir you
We worked hard for 30 minutes with Phillip insisting we stick to the job at hand rather than add in some circuits... It seemed the group were pretty happy with that! After much commentary on each others snipping techniques it was time to be off again and so we said our goodbyes, took a group photo and then were off again!
A swift run followed, no doubt spurred on by some very aggressive but well intended encouragement from some hecklers in the park and before we knew it we were back at base cooling down and stretching.
The wonderful Claire T will be in charge next week as a few of us head off to Sofia for the Goodgym EuroTrip!
Cheers, Pritesh
