Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Aimee (she/her)
Two goodgymers decided to use the extra day, thanks to the leap year, to volunteer for our monthly community mission in Nunsmoor park. Andrew made extra use of this extra day by doing a double mission and volunteering at Leazes parkrun too! Two fantastic missions all before 12 noon!
There was only one task today, carrying on from the volunteer day last month, we were edging the paths. This is to make the park look neater, stop it from becoming overgrown and allow people to use the full path.
Me and Andrew made a great team, him cutting the grass edges vertically and me horizontally digging into the side and shoveling the grass away. We made fast work of the rest of the path and helped with some of a smaller path. Any of the soil which was removed from the verge we wheel barrowed away and used it to fill in holes and dips near the park fence.
On the way out of the park we walked past the flower bed we planted at another Nunsmoor park community mission with goodgym a couple of months ago and it was great to see the bulbs starting to grow! So many thanks to everyone who helps with that company mission.
If you want to get involved come along to Nunsmoor volunteer day next month!
The Bike Garden is a vibrant community space developed on the site of a previous bowling green in Nuns Moor Park, which now serves the community as a place to join in on regular food growing activities, place to hire for private and public events, that may be regular or one-offs, and much more
