Report written by Michael Pirrie
Despite the unusually cold weather at this time of year eight Brighton Goodgymmers braved it to go back to one of our favourite tasks at Elm Grove. We've been working on this area for a few years now clearing up the litter and painting over graffiti. There's been ample time in lockdown for people to undo a lot of our good work so there was plenty to get on with! We split into three groups two litter picking and one painting over the graffiti. The large group made light work of the graffiti covering a big wall that has built up over the last few months. The second group tackled the regular task of clearing the murky bushes outside the almshouses which always offer a trove of undesirable treasures. Not a fun task but really worthwhile and has transformed the area since we first came. Myself and the task organisers traipsed up and down the hills of Hanover to clear some particularly dirty streets of litter. Afterwards a few of us hung around for some alfresco pizza and remembered what it was like to socialize!
Cllr David Gibson is well on board with Goodgym and comes up with various tasks around the ward to keep us busy & useful.
