Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
13 runner ran to paint a pavilion on Wanstead Flats.
GoodGym Newham started 2016 with aplomb. There was some exuberant benevolence, 5 first timers to the area, a brand spanking new trainer straight off the trainer conveyor belt (I believe the factory is just outside M25, near the M4 exit), an aerobic treat of a run and a sense of fulfillment. We started the year as we mean to continue.
After our meet and greet at the beginning, we ran 2.5 miles North West. Met the lovely James (he runs the 45 football pitches), who had buckets of paint and bountiful brushes for us to get our eager hands on. We painted hard and fast, I witnessed some superb wrist action and forearm endurance. There was the side to side technique - quirky. The up and down technique - classic. Even some circular vortex action - unique. Some people managed to get most of the paint on their body, some did not. All in all, it was 15 minutes of fast and furious team work that really made a difference. Hats off.
We then said our goodbyes, and got our run on. With some pace play work on the way back, there was some sublime galloping on show. Another 2.5 miles was chewed up and spat out in no time at all. All deposited in the fitness bank, currently accruing interest - wunderbar.
Personally it was a pleasure to take my first session for Newham, a superb bunch of people made it a lovely evening in East London. Now we'll build - your fitness, our numbers and more rewarding tasks.
GoodGym Newham - onwards we go.
Catch you soon.
