Well its been a funny old week. I managed to cut my foot last Sunday, so alas not Goodgym or parkrun or running for me! However, I have been really busy replying to Norwich parkrun volunteer e-mails and starting to make up the roster for May.

This morning was pretty cold and wet. As I hobbled my way to Eaton park I was quite excited to meet some new volunteers who had stepped forward for the first time. Hey.....don't forget we have a new strip of path running from the skate park to the bridge... new PB path perhaps? potentially? Great to see Elizabeth Kerr running this morning :)

I was leading the course marshalls this morning. At Norwich we have started to rotate our marshalls in a walking type relay to ensure the course is well marshalled, also that we don't get too cold standing in one place and we also have walkie talkies too to ensure good communication.

I have to say a moment during parkrun this morning had me in tears. I'm glad I was wearing a florescent jacket and that there was about 500 people around else I would've bawled my eyes out! Needless to say parkrun really is so inclusive, I'm very proud we have it.

🌳 Norwich parkrun No: 456 ⏱ Total Finishers: 497 😊 First Ever parkrun: 42 🏆 PB’s: 57 👟 Different Clubs: 22 ❤️ Volunteers: 27

❤️❤️❤️ Love parkrun? Give some love back by volunteering!

Volunteer on a Saturday morning during the merry month of May at Norwich parkrun (Eaton Park). Meet at the bandstand at 8:30am with the run director and the other high-viz heroes. You will have a full briefing of the mornings events and how to best support everyone participating at parkrun.

Tasks are varied and include: marshalling, scanning, giving out & sorting finish tokens, tail - walker and many more. All of the tasks are explained in full, easy to do and the tasks are a fun insight into how parkrun runs! The volunteering role usually finishes around 10-10:30am.

Volunteering is great for example if you become injured, are just getting into running, or even have a race on the following Sunday!

If you want to give back to the parkrun community & gain new experiences then parkrun volunteering is for you.

You will receive a point on your parkrun profile & if you volunteer 25 times you will gain a free purple 25 volunteer t-shirt!

If you would like to volunteer at Norwich parkrun and in turn receive a Goodgym good deed you will need to email: norwichhelpers@parkrun.com to let them know you are able to volunteer.

Also let them know in your e-mail that you are part of Norwich Goodgym! Because we work with vulnerable adults and our runners participate at their own risk, participants need to be over 18.

Looking forward to seeing you there, Hayley - Norwich parkrun Volunteer Organiser
