Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Kash
"There are tons of runners here!" said Sevan when he met Kash in Islington.
"I feel we are in the minority today" replied Kash.
Both S&K Team members were incognito today: long black coats, jeans, non-running trainers and GoodGym insignia hidden under jumpers. That's what a GoodGymer can afford on a working on-site day in the winter! Lower content of the Gym but 100% Good.
Ms A needed tech support with her Apple devices. It looked like someone had turned on some unhelpful accessibility features on her iPhone.
"It's very frustrating", Ms A said, "All the images have inverted colours."
She showed the GoodGymers examples in her browser and the news app. Ms A wanted to see things as they were, even the political figures she wouldn't normally fancy seeing. Sevan and Kash looked through the settings and quickly found the one responsible for the "negative" colours. The "smart invert" option wasn't so smart after all and kept changing the appearance of the pictures instead of working only for the text and background. The GoodGymers switched off the setting, which disabled the displaying of white text on a black background, a feature which dyslexic Ms A found helpful. Sevan and Kash recommend what anyone else working in tech would: the dark mode! Ms A loved it and started browsing the internet like a pro user.
The lady tested the new setting on her photo library. Seeing the correct colours in the pictures brought many memories, stories and an unexpected discussion about identifying the gender of kittens.
Although a little bit distracted by newly recovered old memories, Ms A recalled she had a job for GoodGymers on her other device. Sevan and Kash enabled the dark mode on her iPad, which made Ms A even happier.
The team stormed through the main issues, so Ms A asked if they could set up an online NHS account for her. The GoodGymers created an account using Ms A's email and then advised on how to create strong passwords that are easy to remember and type. They walked Ms A through the verification process that required her to enter two temporary codes. Voila! The account was successfully linked to Ms A's NHS record.
To give the lady full access to the functionality of the online NHS services, Ms A had to prove her identity. After unsuccessful rummaging through the iPad's photo library, then through chests and drawers in the physical world, the team of three admitted a defeat - the location of Ms A's photo ID remained a mystery! The second route of proving identity was to contact Ms A's GP practice. Kash helped Ms A explain in an email to the GP which data is needed to complete the process. That's how far the GoodGymers could get on the day.
If you got this far in reading this report you're lucky that we didn't invert the chronology of events!
