What looked like a frigid morning turned out to be very pleasant out on the Ham Lands, where 5 cheery GoodGymers gathered for the monthly mission with the Friends of Ham Lands.

It was a milestone mission, with our lovely Maena reaching 50 good deeds and becoming eligible for her black GG top, which pleases her no end. When there’s a milestone there are brownies of course - and at Ham Lands there is also the Swiss Bakery - so there was a spring in our step as we got underway knowing there were treats instore.

The task itself provided no surprises, as Sharon of the FOHL showed us to a patch of scrub where a covering of sticks needed to be raked up and cleared away in big yellow refuse sacks. Most of us got going on that while the swinging Spaniard Luis got to the root of the matter with a pick axe, digging up brambles and other prickly plants by the roots.

It was a very productive morning and we managed to fill seven sacks of plant debris before repairing to the Swiss Bakery for cheesy goodness and coffee.

Well done Maena for 50 good deeds and hope to see lots of people for the next Ham Lands mission on 8th January.
