Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by JP
The temperature had dropped but the sun was shining as 7 GG regulars convened at the corner of Croft Way for our monthly dose of Ham Lands goodness.
As usual, Sharon was there to direct our efforts, which today involved raking loose grass from an area around a large tree, and removing low lying brambles which could be trip hazards for walkers.
There were plenty of rakes on hand and we got started on the near side of the tree by the path. There didn’t seem to be much loose grass but the rakes pulled up great tufts of it and we were soon making small piles as we made our way around the back of the tree.
We had been in the shade of the tree for the first part of the task, so we really felt the benefit of the sunshine as we made our way around to the other side. Jackets and fleeces were discarded and we basked in the warmth.
A pitchfork was found and we started filling the huge sack with the grass, which was laden with dew and made for a very heavy burden to be dragged to the undergrowth and deposited on a growing compost pile behind the trees.
We enjoyed the task a lot but there were no complaints when the allotted time was up and we headed over to the Swiss Bakery for our traditional coffees and snacks.
